Altar Servers Mass
To the mother church of the Roman Catholic Community of England and Wales and the seat of the Archbishop of Westminster.
Welcome especially today to Altar Servers from across the country, who gather with the Servers of the Westminster Diocese, for this Annual Mass. Cardinal Vincent Nichols, Superior General of the Archconfraternity, was to be our celebrant but has been called to a meeting in Rome. We are therefore especially grateful to Bishop Alan Williams. S.M. the recently appointed Bishop of Brentwood Diocese who kindly agreed to be our Principal Celebrant. We assure him of our prayerful support for his ministry.
May today's celebration of Mass draw each of us closer to Christ the High Priest, who came not to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.
Prayer for the Year of
Jesus Our Saviour, Incarnate Word, as you have entrusted your own way of life to those whom you have called, continue to draw to yourself men and women who will be, for the people of our time, dispensers of mercy, heralds of your return, living signs of the Resurrection and of its treasures of virginity, poverty and obedience.
