Parishioners who pay tax on their income, either PAYE or investments, are invited to join the Gift Aid scheme. The Tax refunds increase the parish income at no extra cost to the donor. In the financial year ending April 2011, the amount received from the Gift Aid scheme was over £11,000. By participating in the Gift Aid Scheme, one does not have to make a commitment of a fixed sum of money -
You can make contributions by:
The Inland Revenue assumes that your donations have been taxed at the Standard Rate and refunds that amount to the Parish. If you are not paying tax at the Standard Rate you need to be sure that your tax for the year covers the refund that your Gift Aided donations will create.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO TO JOIN THE SCHEME?
Simply complete a Gift Aid Declaration Form (click link below) and post it in the Presbytery letterbox. This will remain current until you inform the Parish that you are no longer paying tax or that you are leaving the Parish. By sending your details, you agree that you are a UK Tax Payer and that you have read the details of the scheme. The Gift Aid Coordinator will then send you a membership number, which can be used on Gift Aid envelopes or to identify any other donation (large or small) to the Parish. Your donations and your personal details (email, telephone, address, and postcode) are held in complete confidence and will never be passed on to third parties.
GIFT AIDED DONATIONS FOR SPECIAL COLLECTIONS
Throughout the year, special collections are taken for CAFOD Family Fast, Priests' Training Fund, and Priests’ Retirement Fund. For these charities to gain tax refunds special envelopes must be used; these will be made available at appropriate times.
